I'm an instructional designer by day and dog-obsessed photographer whenever I can be. Originally from Missouri, we now call Southern Utah home, where I spend my free time hiking, playing, training, and adventuring with our three dogs. I’ve been involved in dog sports for the past couple of years: agility, dock diving, scentwork, herding, obedience, and flyball. Honestly, one of my favorite parts is the photos. I love capturing those candid moments when you think no one’s watching—the way your dog looks at you, the in-between moments filled with heart. Of course, I love the high-flying action shots and the beautiful, polished portraits too. But for me, it’s not just about taking the photo. It’s about noticing the moment that matters.
Why Petal Down Photography?
These girls are my whole world, and they’ve inspired me to turn something I love into a way to connect with others through photography. What started as a way to document our own adventures has grown into something more: a way to celebrate the joy, grit, and connection between pets and their humans. I wanted a name that reflects both sides of our dogs: the carefree outdoor adventurers and the intense, driven competitors. “Petal” is a nod to nature and to Meadow. “Pedal down” comes from the line “pedal down state of mind” in the Lainey Wilson song that inspired Lainey’s name — a reminder of the all-in energy they bring to everything they do.
